ABSTRACT The society of Gedangan village related to the marriage still uses many traditions. One of it is the tradition of prohibition of Gotong Dalan Marriage, namely the prohibition for marriage between men and women which the homes are facing each other and it is only separated by the main road. Gresik city is one of the cities of East Java that has known of kiaiwell and there are some Islamic Boarding school (pesantren). However, the belief against the tradition of the prohibition of Gotong Dalan Marriage is still believed strongly by the people of Gedangan Village, Sidayu. The Belief about Gotong Dalan Marriage is stronger with some events that befell the two after carrying out the marriage. This has made the researcher interested to explore more deeply about the prohibition of Gotong Dalan Marriage. The research aims atrevealing the focus of research, namely: 1. How is the practice of The Prohibition of Gotong Dalan Marriagetoward the Muslim community atGedangan Village? 2. How is the practice of The Prohibition of Gotong Dalan Marriage toward Muslim community at Gedangan Village according to perspective of social construction theory? This research included qualitative research, the type of research used field research. The data were obtained through the process of data submission with interviewing and documentation. Data were analyzed by using qualitative descriptive. for checking the validity of data used triangulation of data and sources. The research results concluded that, the Prohibition of Gotong Dalan Marriage is the result of human construction. The social construction of The Prohibition of Gotong Dalan Marriage of the community of Gedangan village was through 3 moments, namely, First, externalization, Adjustment with the tradition of ancestral heritage about the Prohibition of Gotong Dalan Marriage that has a historical basis. Second, objectivation, it is the realization the Prohibition of Gotong Dalan Marriage about the inheritance of the ancestors that are to be preserved. Habituation and institutionalization are through repeated narratives and actions as a form of belief against the prohibition. Third, Internalization, the social classification is base on historical and theological, so that can make different belief between people who have bad and good religious education, and it can raise the typology of the society who believe and who do not believe about the Prohibition of Gotong Dalan Marriage. ABSTRAK Masyarakat Desa Gedangan dalam kaitannya dengan perkawinan masih banyak menggunakan tradisi-tradisi yang ada di daerahnya. Salah satunya terdapat tradisi larangan kawin gotong dalan, yaitu larangan untuk kawin antara laki-laki dengan perempuan yang rumahnya saling berhadapan satu sama lain dan hanya dipisahkan oleh jalan utama. Kota Gresik merupakan salah satu kota di Jawa Timur yang memilki beberapa kiai yang cukup dikenal serta terdapat beberapa pesantren.
