ABSTRACT Character education is the strengthening of moral education in the present context that is highly relevant in educating students in preparing quality generation. The national character which is fading fast amidst the current globalization and modernization needs an immediate respond. One of efforts for that is using the educating and enlightening education system used in boarding school based school. The purpose this research is to determine the implementation of boarding school programs in character formation, other than that to know the results of the implementation of boarding school programs in character formation and to know the factors supporters and inhibitors from the implementation of boarding school programs in character education formation in Al-Qolam Boarding school MAN 3 Malang. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The methods of collecting data are using the observation, documentation and interviews methods. Technique of data analysis using qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of this research are, the implementation of boarding school programs in character education formation devided into three learning activities Firstly, ta?lim ma?hady and learning tolerance among muslims, habitual worship covering 5 day congregational prayer and sunnah prayer. Accustomed activities in ma?had are saying greeting (salam) and hand shaking each other. Conditioning of optional fasting (puasa sunnah) is compulsory activitiesin. Supervisor give exemplary for students, reward and punishment are given once a month with point accumulation model. Secondly, students in Islamic boarding school Al-Qolam MAN 3 Malang was accustomed values religious there are aqidah values, syariat and akhlaq. Thirdly, supporting to factors in the formation of characters is facilities and infrastructure of supporting facilities, pre-programmed activities, conducive situation, support from all residents of the dormitory, as well as supporting environmental conditions. And the inhibitors in the formation of limited characters understanding of dormitory residents, limited control and residential character of different ABSTRAK Pendidikan Karakter adalah penguatan pendidikan moral dalam konteks sekarang yang sangat relevan dalam mendidik siswa dalam mempersiapkan generasi berkualitas. Karakter bangsa yang mulai luntur ditengah arus globalisasi dan modernisasi. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan adalah melalui sistem pendidikan yang mencerdaskan sekaligus mencerahkan seperti yang diterapkan disekolah berbasis mahad. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui implementasi program asrama dalam pembentukan karakter siswa, selain itu untuk mengetahui hasil terhadap implementasi program asrama dalam pembentukan karakter serta mengetahui faktor-faktor pendukung dan penghambat dalam pembentukan karakter di Ma?had Al-Qalam MAN 3 Malang. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan datanya yaitu menggunakan metode observasi, dokumentasi dan wawancara. Sedangkan teknik analisis datanya menggunakan analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitihan ini menunjukan bahwa implementasi program asrama dalam pembentukan karakter dilakukan dalam tiga hal kegiatan yaitu Pertama, kegiatan pembelajaran yang terbagi menjadi: ta?lim ma?hady, pembelajaran toleransi antar umat Islam, pembinaan ibadah, meliputi sholat berjama?ah 5 waktu dan solat sunnah. Pembiasaan di dalam ma?had seperti ucapsalam dan salaman. Pengkondisian puasa
