ABSTRACT The teacher plays a strategic role as educators, especially in the effort to shape the character of the nation through developing the personality and the nation values . Teacher has an important role in the learning process. Likewise in providing motivation to students. Motivation needs to be given in order to give encouragement so that students can follow the learning according to the purposes of the learning. The students who have great motivation will be able to carry out the learning activities seriously. The purposes of the research are to describe the efforts of Social Science teacher in motivating student?s learning at Islamic Junior High School (MTs) Hamid Rusydi of Malang, and the supporting and inhibiting factors of teachers in motivating students' learning at Islamic Junior High School (MTs) Hamid Rusydi of Malang, and also the motivation implications of Social Science teacher against the student?s learning at Islamic Junior High School (MTs) Hamid Rusydi of Malang. The research design used a qualitative approach by conducting observations, interviews, and documentation. Research subjects were principal, Social Science teacher and the sample of students of class VII at Islamic Junior High School (MTs) Hamid Rusydi of Malang. The validation of data was done by giving meaning to the data, then drawn conclusions. The research results revealed the learning process, efforts, supporting and inhibiting factors in motivating student?s learning at Islamic Junior High School (MTs) Hamid Rusydi of Malang. The efforts of Social Science teacher in motivating student?s learning included explaining the purpose of learning, giving praise, giving gifts, giving punishment, using varied methods, and encouraging. Supporting factors included a supportive student learning environment. There was an effective communication between teachers and students, and teaching materials that met the standards of the curriculum. The inhibiting factors were lack of time allocation, lack of learning motivation, different student abilities, suboptimal learning media, and family environment. ABSTRAK Guru memegang peranan strategis sebagai pendidik terutama dalam upaya membentuk watak bangsa melalui pengembangan kepribadian dan nilai-nilai bangsa. Guru memliki peranan penting dalam proses pembelajaran. Demikian juga dalam hal memberikan motivasi belajar bagi siswa. Motivasi perlu diberikan guna memberikan dorongan agar siswa dapat mengikuti pembelajaran sesuai dengan tujuan pembelajaran yang ingin dicapai. Siswa yang memliki motivasi besar akan dapat melaksanakan kegiatan pembelajarannya dengan sungguh-sungguh. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana upaya Guru IPS dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar di MTs Hamid Rusydi Malang, untuk mendeskripsikan faktor pendukung dan penghambat guru dalam memotivasi belajar siswa di MTs Hamid Rusydi Malang, untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana implikasi motivasi guru IPS terhadap belajar siswa di MTs Hamid Rusydi Malang. Desain penelitian dalam penulisan ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Pada penelitian kualitatif, untuk pengumpulan data peneliti melakukan dengan mengadakan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitiannya adalah kepala sekolah, guru bidang IPS dan sampel siswa kelas VII MTs Hamid Rusydi Malang. Sedangkan pemeriksaan data dilakukan dengan memberikan makna terhadap data yang dikumpulkan, kemudian ditari
