ABSTRACT The comic science is nuances of postive characters that appear through dialogue and depiction of figures. Character education is an educational process that centers on the development of character values in the school community, especially learners. Development of teaching materials is one means to help students to learn the material easily, improve understanding, and enhance students' thinking skills. Teaching materials that can support the learning process is a comic-based learning media for class 4th grade SD / MI. The subject matter discussed are the properties of light. This material explains some of the properties of light commonly found in everyday life with reference to core competencies and basic competencies. The purpose of this study is to, a) Expose the results of interviews and observations about comic development, b) Describe the process and results of development of comic development Natural science material of light properties to improve students' critical thinking ability, c) Improving the quality of learning materials with the development of Comics Natural Science Materials Nature of light to Improve students' critical thinking skills, d) Improve critical thinking skills of grade 4th grade students. The research method used is descriptive with the data analyst qualitatively and quantitatively. This type of research is Research and Development, which refers to the Dick and Carey development model. This study was tested in fourth grade students of MI Al-Islamiyah Bangil. The counclutionof this development is a) The comic-based science learning media of light properties is already in complete value, b) The attractiveness level of science-based IPA learning materials on these properties of light has a very high level of attractiveness, c) Comic-based learning media can improve the learning result of critical thinking class 4th MI Al-Islamiyah Bangil. The results of the development of comic-based materials of these light properties are valid in terms of content, learning and design. The level of attractiveness in this resource is 99% because it is very easy to understand, has a good look, motivates, and minimizes the boredom of learners. Able to improve the ability of critical thinking because it contains exercise questions that can stimulate students' critical thinking. ABSTRAK Komik Sains merupakan nuansa karakter postif yang muncul melalui dialog dan penggambaran tokoh. Pendidikan karakter adalah proses pendidikan yang berpusat pada pengembangan nilai-nilai karakter di komunitas sekolah, terutama peserta didik. Pengembangan bahan ajar merupakan salah satu sarana guna membantu siswa dapat mempelajari materi dengan mudah, meningkatkan pemahaman, dan meningkakan keterampilan berfikir siswa. Bahan ajar yang dapat mendukung proses pembelajaran adalah media pembelajaran berbasis komik untuk kelas IV SD/MI. Materi pokok yang dibahas adalah sifat-sifat cahaya.
