"????? ????? ?????? ???????" ?? ????? ??????? ????? ABSTRACT Learning media is a system to help the learning process so that learning becomes effective and interesting. The teachers are using for learning media not only choose the cheap and easy also the learning media used must provide benefits that can improve reading skills, text understanding, vocabulary and language structure. Learning media that means here is the form media in the form of genealogy storybooks of intelligence and intelligence as a system that can help the process of reading skills of students. According to Rothlein and Mein Bach (1991: 90) that pictorial story is a book that contains messages through illustrations in the form of pictures and writings, drawings and writings are forming a unified whole. Therefore, with this picture book, students are expected to be able to understand the text of the reading and the messages contained therein. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the use of form media in the form of storybooks of ingenuity and intelligence in improving students' reading ability in understanding the text of reading and content of messages from the text in the Salafiyah Syafi'iyah Islamic School Sukorejo Situbondo. While the research method used in this study is experimental research, which consists of two groups. First the control group, the two experimental groups. While the approach in this research is quantitative approach, as for auxiliary instrument in this research that is in the form of observation, interview, documentation, and test. This research was carried out at the arabic language development institute of Salafiyah Syafi'iyah Sukorejo Situbondo, East Java, on the students of middle level. The results of this study indicate that the use of form media in the form of story books with genealogy pedigrees of intelligence and intelligence can improve students' reading ability and understand the text and messages contained in it and can increase students' motivation in reading skills. based on the result of both test that is pretest and posttest by using t-test, show that result of t table is: 6,00 bigger than level 1% = 2,845 so we can conclude that usage of form media in the form of story book of cunning and intelligence to effective reading learning ABSTRAK Media pembelajaran adalah alat untuk membantu proses pembelajaran sehingga pembelajaran menjadi efektif. Guru dalam menggunakan media pembelajaran tidak hanya memilih yang murah dan mudah saja akan tetapi media pembelajaran yang digunakan harus memberikan manfaat yang dapat meningkatkan kemahiran membaca, pemahaman teks, kosa kata dan struktur bahasa. Media pembelajaran yang dimaksud disini adalah buku cerita "Silsilah Kecerdikan Dan Kecerdasan" sebagai alat bantu yang dapat membantu proses kemahiran membaca siswa. Menurut Rothlein dan Meinbach (1991:90) bahwa cerita bergambar adalah buku yang memuat pesan melalui ilustrasi yang berupa gambar dan tulisan, gambar dan tulisan tersebut membentuk kesatuan yang utuh. Oleh karena itulah dengan buku cerita bergambar ini siswa diharapkan mampu memahami teks bacaan dan pesan yang terkandung didalamnya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui ke efektifitasan penggunaan media cetak yang berbentuk buku cerita silsilah kecerdikan dan kecerdasan ini dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca siswa dalam memahami teks bacaan dan kandungan pesa
