ABSTRACT
The problem of this research is: 1) how the process of designing the multilingual dictionary (Arabic-English-Indonesia) to improve speaking skill in Asy- Syarifah Islamic senior high School grade ten Mranggen Demak central Java?, 2) how determine the effectiveness of using the multilingual dictionary (Arabic-English-Indonesia from student in improving speaking skill in Asy- Syarifah Islamic senior high School grade ten Mranggen Demak central Java?
This research purpose is to: 1) knowing the process of designing the multilingual dictionary (Arabic-English-Indonesia) to develop speaking skill and, 2) determine the effectiveness of using the multilingual dictionary (Arabic-English-Indonesia) to improve speaking skill in Asy- Syarifah Islamic senior high School grade ten Mranggen Demak central Java.
The methodology of this research is the research and development (R&D). research instruments to collect data are: 1) observation, 2) interview, 3) questionnaire, 4) test (pre-test and post-test). The population is the students of Asy- Syarifah Islamic senior high school and the sample is the students of grade ten 1 language in 2017-2018 academic year.
The results of this research are: (1) the result of the multilingual dictionary (Arabic-English-Indonesia) to improve speaking skill of the student in Asy- Syarifah Islamic senior high School Mranggen Demak central Java and the characteristic of the dictionary is as: 1. Thematic dictionary, 2. Pocket dictionary, 3. Based on hand book and theme that the students need, 4. Has many themes from noun, daily verb, and short expression from daily activity and grammar (2) based on the results of pre-test and post-test that use the multilingual dictionary (Arabic-English-Indonesia) was effective in learning Arabic for speaking skill to high level, is proved when the average value pre-test= 39,6 (refused) rose to 64,42 (received) after carrying out post-test. The calculated result of t-test= 11 with db= 27, and t-table value of 2,05 at 5% significant level. Thus the t-test result counts 11 greater than the t-table 2,05. So, the t-test result received, and use of the multilingual dictionary (Arabic-English-Indonesia) to improve reading skill proved effective. And the result of questionaire from student that the dictionary in the process of learning speaking skill and the answer of the students with the answer ?yes? is 98,98% and the answer ?no? is 1,2%.
