ABSTRACT Reading is a way to know the works of our predecessors, and also the knowledge contained in books and newspapers consisting of literatures, beautiful poetry and full of wisdom. Reading is also a means for the present generations to streng then its civilization and then passed on to subsequent generations and will continue from the time to time. Reading is the most important subject taught in school or Islamic boarding school. Islamic boarding Dar Ummahatil Mukminin is a great ma'had in learning reading skills base rate. The purpose of the study researchers studied are (1) describe the goal of learning reading skills in Ma'had Dar Ummahatil Mukminin Batu, (2) describe the teaching materials teaching reading skills in Ma'had Dar Ummahatil Mukminin Batu, (3) describing the learning method Maharah qiroah in Ma'had Dar Ummahatil Mukminin Batu, (4) describe the learning media Maharah qiroah in Ma'had Dar Ummahatil Mukminin Batu, (5) describe the learning evaluation Maharah qiroah in Ma'had Dar Ummahatil Mukminin Batu. The approach used by researches in this study is a qualitative approach to describe the circumstances and the phenomenas. The most appreciate type of study of this research is descriptive research. Called descriptive because the researcher will describe the aim, subject, methods, media and evaluation at Ma?had Dar Ummahatil Mukminin Batu. Researcher used a descriptive method reather to explain phenomenas in gathering of fact, information and observation as well as explaining the situation and asses the situation as its exist in reality. The method of data collection in this research are observation method, interviews, documentaries, to analyze data use descriptive qualitative. The results from this study are: 1) The purpose of learning reading proficiency in Mahad Dar Ummahatil Faithful is the student's ability to read letters, words, sentences, and simple text properly, to understand words, sentences, and simple text properly. 2) The teaching materials used is to use the book al-principle for level dasar3) method used is by using a mixture of 4) The medium used is by using audio-visual media. Visual media by using the book by using the audio while recording. 5) As for the evaluation is to use a written test, an oral test and translate the text ABSTRAK Membaca adalah cara untuk mengenal karya-karya pendahulu kita dan juga pengetahuan yang ada dalam buku-buku dan surat kabar yang terdiri dari literature, sastra yang indah dan sarat akan hikmah. Membaca juga merupakan sarana bagi generasi sekarang untuk memperkuat peradabannya dan kemudian akan diwariskan kepada generasi setelahnya dan akan terus dilanjutjkan dari waktu ke waktu sehingga dapat menghubungkan peradaban dahulu dan sekarang serta peradaban sekarang dan masa depan. Membaca adalah mata pelajaran yang paling penting diajarkan di sekolah dan pondok pesantren islam. Ma?had Dar Ummahatil Mukminin merupakan mahad yang bagus dalam pembelajaran maharah qiroah untuk mubtadi.
