ABSTRACT This study aims to investigate the categories of change and its factors in Lipia schools of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Furthermore, the objectives of the study are to recognize the strategies used and the basic requirements to fulfill aiming to succeed the change process of Lipia schools in Malaysia. The role of leadership in change management and obstacles overcome by Lipia schools in Malaysia are examined in this study as well. Qualitative approach has been employed to collect the data. They were obtained by doing interview, observation and documentation study. This research focused on both group of male and female teachers in Lipia and Damay schools, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The findings of the study show that change experienced by schools in Lipia are mostly found in the form of transforming traditional teaching method into the modern one, occupying high-qualified teachers, and more concerning to the distinction between academic and non-academic activities. Other factors affecting on Lipia schools are the existence of particular unsure in the teaching process which are permanent, happening all at once and the appearance of new competitors from other schools. Strategies for change used in Lipia schools are selecting high-competence teachers, providing adequate facilities for students and implementing modern teaching method to enhance the teaching competence at schools. Basic requirements to succeed teaching process in Malaysia are also accomplished by involving the role of headmaster and dedicated teachers for the school management. Professionalism and leadership skills are significant for the headmasters of Lipia schools to improve the teachers? competence and their preparedness, to provide adequate schools facility, to develop teaching media and to objectify the competence. On the other hand, there are some problems overcome by Lipia schools in Malaysia during the change process, ranging from the teachers? unnecessary external business to the indeterminate management. Therefore, the recommended teaching system to solve the problem is by declining classic consortium opposed to the modern needs for change and integrating the consortium and new regulations that support the change itself. The headmasters? preparedness also should be improved to strengthen their capacity in change management. Moreover, developing creative yet attractive management practice and workshop from various schools could help teachers and headmasters to develop the design and pursue the requirements for change ABSTRAK Pembelajaran ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui macam-macam perubahan dan faktor yang mempengaruhi perubahan sekolah di Lipia, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, dan mengetahui strategi yang diterapkan di berbagai sekolah Lipia utnuk perubahan, dan untuk mengetahui tuntutan pokok yang wajib disediakan untuk mensukseskan proses perubah
