Key Words: Writing, Narrative Text, Animation Movie Writing is an activity which expresses knowledge, idea, and feeling in form of text so that the result can be enjoyed and understood by the readers.Writing is one way to communicate. It is of skill which requires students to express their ideas in written. Writer involves the mastery of all elements in the target language such as grammar, content, vocabulary, spelling, and mechanics together. Writing should get more attention because there are many students who get difficulties in making text, especially narrative text. The writer found a problem owned by students of MA Walisongo Pecangaan Jepara in conducting English Writing. The English teacher should be creative to choose kind of media in teaching writing. Hopefully, the students can make a narrative text easily. Animation movie is one of teaching media which can be a consideration for English teacher in teaching writing becauseanimation movie is a one of media that can be used of students to develop, organize or collecting ideas and finding direction in writing easily. The writer thinks that Animation Movie as a media for the students in learning process. It makes the students able to write English well in conveying their ideas. So that they would be confident and enjoy during the learning process. The purpose of this research is to find out whether there is a significant difference between the writing ability of narrative text of the eleventh grade students of MA Walisongo Pecangaan Jepara in academic year 2012/2013 before and after being taught by using Animation Movie. The subject of the research is the eleventh grade students of MA Walisongo Pecangaan Jepara in academic year 2012/2013 with the number of students 38. The total population is 118. The design of this research is experimental research by using test instrument (pre-test and post-test) and giving instrument only in one group. Based on the data analysis, it shows that the ability of writing narrative text of the eleventh grade students of MA Walisongo Pecangaan Jepara in academic year 2012/2013 before being taught by using Animation Movie is categorized sufficient. The score of Mean and Standard Deviation are 65.31 and 8.68 Meanwhile, the writing ability of narrative text of eleventh grade students of MA walisongo Pecangaan Jepara in academic year 2012/2013 after being taught by using Animation Movie is categorized good. The score of Mean and Standard Deviation are 81.76 and 9.31. Moreover, the calculation of t-test (t_o) gets result 12.29 and in the level of significant 0.05 and the degree of freedom (df) 37 which is gained N – 1, t-table (t_t) is 2.03. Because t-observation (t_o) is higher that t-table (t_t) (t_o>t_t), it means that there is a significant difference between the writing ability of narrative text of the eleventh grade students of MA walisongo Pecangaan Jepara in academic year 2012/2013 before and after being taught by using Animation Movie. Considering the process and the result of this research, the writer suggests an interesting media in teaching English, especially to improve their ability in writing narrative text. One of them is animation Movie which can be used as a media in teaching writingnarrative text. It means that Animation Movie can be effective in teaching writing. Therefore, the writer suggests that the English teacher could apply Animated Movie as an alternative media in teaching process. ABSTRAKSI Aminah, Dewi. 2013. Menulis melibatkan beberapa unsur yang penting didalamnya, seperti: tata bahasa, isi, kosakata, cara pengucapan, dan unsur yang lainnya. Menulis seharusnya mendapat perhatian lebih karena masih banyak siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam membuat teks, khususnya teks narrative. Penulis menemukan masalah yang dimiliki oleh para siswa MA Walisongo Pecangaan Jepara dalam menulis Bahasa Inggris. Guru bahasa Inggris
