Abstract :
This thesis is about figurative language study of Rick Price?s Album entitled Heaven Knows. This study focuses on the figures of speech used in the album Heaven Knows? In thisthesis , the problems that may arise are stated as follows :(1) Whatfigurative language types are found in Rick Price Heaven Knows album? and (2) What are the functions of the figurative language types found in Rick Price?s Heaven Knows album? In order to answer those problem statements,the writer collects the data by using library study,internet research and documentary research. After the data werecollected, then the writer analyzed them using the following steps: Reading the song lyric,Identifying,Classifying and Interpreting the data. The research results showeight types ofMetaphorical Language namely Hyperbole,Epithet, Personification, Paradox, Oxymoron, Eponym, Simile, Pun or paronomasia. The percentage of these figurative languages are 32 Hyperbole (38%), 17 Personification (20%) 18 Epithet (21%), 3 Simile (4%), 2 Eponym(2%), 2 Oxymoron (2%), 3 Paradox (4%) and then 7 Pun or Paronomasia ( 9%).
