Abstract :
Social media at this time has become a new space for lovers of
applications offered by well-known manufacturers, one of the famous application
that is Instagram which was originally famous as a medium for sharing photos
with other accounts now transformed as a source of news sharing as well. This
study examines the ethics of communicating in social media.
This study uses the theory of K. Bertens (1994) on Ethics, as well as the
theory of CMC theory Social Presence Theory, Clueleness Theory, Social
Information Processing Theory that examines aspects of CMC.
Using Qualitative Descriptive research method, this research is done on
informant through by depth interview, informant in this research is active
Instagram users. Ethics comment on Instagram.
The result of this research is that many users of social media Instagram
who post negative comments to respond to the news, many elements of SARA
contained therein, it is a form of disappointment from the people of Indonesia that
the active users because they feel the incident offensive to the sense of
nationalism for the people of Indonesia and ignoring the ethics of communicating.
The conclusion is known that posting negative comments related to that
incident reporting in SEA Games 2017 Malaysia in Instagram is a violation of
ethics in using social media, because in posting uploaded comments, there are
three points of ethics in using social media that is not in note, namely the
existence of elements of SARA, the use of language that is not appropriate, do not
do checking about the truth behind that accident.
