Abstract :
This thesis gives some information about comparative study between
literal meaning and nonliteral meaning in ? A Tear And A Smile? Kahlil Gibran?s
Poem. Besides, the poem of Kahlil Gibran?s usually using nonliteral meaning
such as personification, hiperbole, metonymy, metaphore etc to make a poem
much more beautiful and full of meaning. The writes also analyze the subject
matter based on semantic.
To analyze the subject matter, the writer firstly gathers the information
from the relevant books related to the subject matter and also collecting the data
