Abstract :
This study focused on analyzed oppression and the effects of women's oppression experienced by the main character. This study used the theory of Iris Marion Young 2014. According to Iris Marion Young, there were 5 faces of oppression and researcher tried to find examples of oppression that occurred in the film Sleeping with the Enemy. This research used qualitative methods, the film and the scenario Sleeping with the Enemy were the data sources. This study showed that the main character of the film Sleeping with the Enemy experienced oppression in the form of exploitation, marginalization, powerlessness, and violence. However, in this film the researcher did not find the cultural domination experienced by the main character. From the film Sleeping with the Enemy, researcher found oppressive effects such as injuries to several parts of the body due to beatings, the influence of psychological pressure, and experiencing trauma such as being paranoid, often daydreaming, and forcing to smile.
