Abstract :
This study applies the psychoanalytic theory by Carl Gustav Jung to analyze Sylvia Plath?s eleven selected works in Ariel poem book. The aims of this study are to discuss Sylvia Plath?s model of the psyche through her works. This study is classified as qualitative research that applies some procedures: reading, identifying, analyzing, and interpreting. The importance of this study is to give a contribution in education, literature analysis or specifically poems analysis of one?s psyche since there are not many studies of model of the psyche applied in poems. Plath?s selected poems in Ariel reveals her persona of the Everyman archetype, Plath?s ego of the Mother archetype and reveals her lacks of self-love, the self of the Huntress archetype, the shadow of the wounded child, and her animus which represents Plath?s physical strength and animus projection to her husband. This study will play a significant part in the study of human psyche that can be applied in real life.
