Abstract :
This study analyses the exploitation carried out by the communist party that occurred in the Cambodian capital which had an impact on the people in the capital. This study uses the short story Pol Pot and The Khmer Rouge as data for research and uses a qualitative method. In collecting data, the researcher searching the short stories contained in watt-pad. The theory used in this study is the theory of Karl Marx in his book Labour and Value: A Rethinking Marx's Theory of Exploitation. Karl Marx's theory states that the exploitation that occurs is politics carried out by the communist party. This means that in this short story, it describes the people in the capital who are exploited by the communist party only to use labour to be forced to work for personal gain. The findings show that people in the capital experienced the impact of the communist party's conduct which required people in the capital to move to the countryside and be forced to work without regard for their sense of justice and welfare for others. Researcher have discovered the exploitation carried out by the communist party against people in the capital in this short story. There were several actions taken by the communist party that forced people in the capital to move to the countryside. There is a happy family who have to separate from each other in order to obey the communist party. After the people of the capital moved to the countryside, they had to work according to the rules of the communist party. They tried to run away but they had no choice. And at the end of the short story there are always people who die from hunger and the cruel nature of the communist party.
