Abstract :
This thesis entitled Conjunction Applied in Students? Explanation Text
Produced by 4th Semester Students of FBIB Unisbank of Academic
Year 2009/2010, is intended to answer the problem, what kinds of
conjunction are applied in the explanation text produced by 4
th
semester
students? of FBIB Unisbank of academic year 2010/2011. The reasons
to analyze this article are: first, studying functional grammar is
important for English department students to know how to relate
sentences with conjunction. Second, the explanation text produced by
4
th
semester students has many kinds of conjunction. So, we need to
review concept about the conjunction that applied in the explanation
text.
This study uses qualitative study to analyze the data. To facilitate the
process of analysis, the methods in this study are divided into two parts.
They are method of data collection by having library study, from
documentation for collecting, and method of data analysis.
The writer concludes that the students still used the familiar
conjunction, like and, or, but, because, etc. So, the writer suggests that
the students have to pay more attention in the functional grammar class.
