Abstract :
Ambon banana stem (Musa paradisiaca var sapientum) is often just thrown away,
whereas Ambon banana stem has high antioxidant and antibacterial power. To
facilitate the use of Ambon banana stem, it?s made in a lotion preparation. The
aim of this research is to get Ambon banana stem lotion formulation with
variation of stearic acid concentration as emulsifying agent. Stearic acid
concentrations used were 5%, 10%, and 15%. Ambon banana stem was extracted
by maceration method using 70% ethanol solvent. The extracts were then
prepared by lotion preparation and tested physical quality, stability, aseptability
and statistically analyzed. The results showed that the difference of stearic acid
concentration significantly affected (p<0.05) on the adhesive, scattering,
protection and viscosity. From result evaluation got formula with 15% stearic acid
concentration is best in physical test and stability of lotion.
