Abstract :
Winged bean (Psopocarpus tetragonolobus L.) is a plant widely consumed
by the community with abundant active substances. Winged bean contain
Flavonoids, phenolic, vitamin C and Vitamin E which can be used as an
antioxidant. Antioxidant compounds can be used to capture free radicals.
The purpose of this research is to know antioxidant activity of ethanol
extract of winged bead fruit and to know at concentration how many extract can
reach IC50. Extraction method used was maceration with 70% ethanol solvent.
Antioxidant activity was tested using DPPH free radical (1,1-diphenyl-2-
picrylhydrazyl). The results showed that inhibition of free radical with
concentration average of 100, 150, 200, 250, and 300 ppm was 36,7149%,
42,1111%, 54,0938%, 62,1881%, and 68,6094%. Tests with DPPH method
showed moderate antioxidant activity with IC50 value of 183,6786 ppm.
