Abstract :
Staphylococcus aureus is a bacteria that can cause skin infections, such
as acne. Soursop leaf is able to overcome acne. Soursop leaf contains flavonoids,
saponins, tannins, and alkaloids as a potential antibacterial. The aim of this
research is to know the antibacterial activity of ethyl acetate fraction of soursop
leaf (Annona muricata L.) on growth of Staphylococcus aureus and to know the
best concentration of soursop leaf ethyl acetate fraction (Annona muricata L.) in
inhibiting Staphylococcus aureus. The method used is disc diffusion (Kirby &
Bauer) with concentration series 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. The inhibitory zone
results from the ethyl acetate fraction at 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%concentrations is
7,28 mm; 8,70 mm; 13,23 mm; and 21,28 mm. The inhibitory ability of ethyl
acetate fraction of soursop leaves is greatest at 100% concentration, and almost
equivalent to gentamicin antibiotic which has 22.35 mm inhibition zone diameter.
The result of obtained inhibit zone was analyzed by using kruskal-wallis method
with significant value 0,005 (??0.05) so that there was a significant difference of
each treatment. In the post hoc analysis, there was a significant value of 0,000, so
there was a significant difference between the controls with each concentration.
