Abstract :
Uric acid disease in Indonesia based on Health Research Association
(Riskesdas) in 2013 by 11.9% based on health workers and 24.7% based on
diagnosis or symptoms Hyperuricemia or better known as increased uric acid
levels in the blood is a disease kinetic uric acid disorders . Uric acid is formed
when consuming foods that contain lots of purines. Hyperuricemia can also cause
a high risk of complications such as gout, urolithiasis, acute uric acid
nephropathy. This study aims to find out how big the ability of two combination
activities from ethanol extract of bay leaf, and meniran in lowering uric acid
levels of male rat induced potassium oxonate? and which comparison is more
effective in reducing uric acid levels of male rat induced potassium oxonate?
This study used 40 male white rats wistar strain which is divided into 8
groups. Group I as a normal control was given aquadest, group II as a negative
control was given CMC-Na 0.5%, group III as positive control was given
allopurinol dose 10 mg / KgBB, group IV was given a single dose of 100% salam
leaves, group V was given a single dose of herba meniran 100%, groups VI to
VIII were given a combination of bay leaf and herbal meniran with a ratio of
75:25; 50:50; 25:75. Prior to rat treatment, hyperuricemia should be made first
with potassium oxonate.
Salam leaf extract and herbaceous meniran potentially as
antihiperurisemia by lowering uric acid levels in male white rats wistar strain
induced potassium oxonate (P <0.05). Optimal doses that can reduce uric acid
levels are in combination dosage of bay leaf extract and herbal meniran at 75:25
ratio.
