Abstract :
Soil transmitted Helminth (STH) is a nematode which needs soil as the
media for the development of infective form. In Indonesia STHs has are important
in public health are Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura, Anchylostoma
duodenale and Necator americanus. In Surakarta there are many food sellers who
serve raw vegetables such as basil vegetables.
This research is descriptive with sampling technique total sampling. The
sample determination is adjusted to the number of food stalls in the city of
Surakarta. Examination of basil sample by NaOH precipitation method. A total of
91 samples of basil leaves scattered in the region of Central Surakarta, East
Surakarta, North Surakarta, West Surakarta and South Surakarta.
The results showed that the samples contaminated by Soil Transmitted
Helminth eggs with the genus Ascaris sp.
The conclusion from this research is that basil leaves presented by
merchants in food stalls in Surakarta City was contaminated by Soil Transmitted
Helminth eggs as much as 1,1%.
