Abstract :
Examination of cabbage vegetables in Traditional Markets in Surakarta City which
may be contaminated with Soil Transmitted Helminths eggs. The purpose of this study was to
determine the contamination of Soil Transmitted Helminths eggs, in cabbage vegetables that
are sold by traders in the Traditional Market of Surakarta City. This type of research is
descriptive survey. Sampling in 5 Traditional Markets in Surakarta City, each market was
taken 6 samples of cabbage vegetables with Quota sampling of 30 samples. Examination of
Soil Transmitted Helminths eggs was carried out by the deposition method with 0.2% NaOH
solution then deposited then centrifuged and examined microscopically, the data obtained
were analyzed descriptively. The results of the tests obtained were 100% that were not found
in Soil Transmitted Helminths worm eggs, but found larval stadiums as much as 3.3%. At the
time of sampling at the Market, it was found that the conditions for storing cabbage
vegetables in a condition that was based on a stall and that there were also no places in the
basket were placed so that there was the potential for contamination with the soil, so
cleanliness should be taken when placing the vegetables..
