Abstract :
Urinary tract infections (UTI) is an infection of every part of the urinary
system and most of the lower urinary tract. Urinary tract infections (UTI) can also
attack on children as well as adults. In Indonesia, UTI prevalence ranges from 5-
15% and the number of UTI sufferers reaches 90-100 cases per 100,000
inhabitants per year. The purpose of this research is to know the description of the
case of urinary tract infections in the city of Jakarta based on gender, age and
bacterial species in the city of Jakarta.
This method of study used the study of literature with a data source
derived from a collection of reference journals of urinary tract infections in
Jakarta city. The results of this study are based on the most gender in women
while based on the most age vulnerable in adults and the bacteria often found are
Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae.
Many women who suffer from UTI in males due to female urethral
anatomy have short urethra so that bacterial contaminants are easier to enter the
urinary tract, whereas in males have a long urethra that has prostate fluid where
the fluid is bactericidal as a protector against infection by bacteria. Urinary tract
infections occur in adults due to the presence of sexual activity, chronic diseases,
genitourinaria functional disorders and the use of certain medications. The
conclusion of this study is the prevalence of cases of urinary tract infections in the
highest Jakarta cities in women (57,3%) Based on vulnerable age 21-14 years
(36,7%) The common bacteria is Escherichia coli (43,8%) and Klebsiella
pneumoniae (15,6%).
