Abstract :
Hypertension is a major and serious health problem for the world. In
addition to their high prevalence and tend to increase in the future, hypertension is
also the cause of death. According to the World Health Organization (WHO)
(2005), hypertension is a risk factor of the high prevalence of cardiovascular
disease. There are many factors that cause hypertension among others age, gender,
family history, obesity, high salt content, smoking habit and the consumption of
alcohol. This research is conducted with the aim of seeing the risk factors of
hypertension (age, gender, education, occupation, family history, obesity, high
salt content, smoking and alcohol consumption, and stress) of hypertension in the
UPT Health Care Penuming period March 2019. The study was conducted with a
cross sectional design in 101 patients in the UPT Health Care Penumping which
was taken using the purposive sampling technique in March of 2019. The results
found that the proportion of hypertension in theUPT Health Care Penumping in
March 2019 is 55.7% there is a meaningful relationship between family history
risk factor (P = 0,000), consumption of salty foods (P = 0,000), consumption of
saturated fat foods (p = 0.000), alcohol consumption (p = 0,002), consumption of
caffeine (P = 0,000), exercise habits (p = 0,009) and stress (P = 0.00) with
hypertension and risk factors for age, education, occupation, sex, smoking and
obesity do not show connection with hypertension.
