Abstract :
Background : Cholesterol test is one of the laboratory examinations that
frequently done to diagnose a disease. Specimen which usually can be used are
serum or plasma sample obtained by centrifugation. The blood sample that are
centrifuged at the wrong speed and time will ruin the lipoprotein enzyme in
cholesterol. The faster the centrifugation rotation, it will be more impactful to the
result. Objective : The purpose of this study was to determine the difference of
cholesterol level based on variation speed of centrifugation and the effect to the
examination results. Method : This study uses a literature study method with the
data sources from secondary data of research reports or scientific publications
journals that contain about the various speed of centrifugation on cholesterol test
and the factors that affecting. Data analysis was performed descriptively by
arranging the data sequence and organizing it into a pattern from every data
sources that used. Result : The result of these studies was done by D.
Weerasinghe 2015, W. Leonhardt 1994 and Jabbar 2005 showed that there was a
decrease in the result of cholesterol level from samples with high fat level after
ultracentrifugation. Conclusion : There is an effect from the speed of
ultracentrifugation to the cholesterol level test result.
