Abstract :
Background : Candidiasis fungal infection is one of the most common
Diabetes complications that frequently found. Candidiasis infection also can
damaging the condition of Diabetes Mellitus. The gold standard for the diagnosis
of candidiasis is by culture method. Objective : The purpose of this study is to
review the description of cases of candidiasis that occur in patients with Diabetes
Mellitus and find out the Candida species that caused candidiasis in patients with
Diabetes Mellitus. Method : This study uses a literature study method with the
data source used from a collection of references that contain Candidiasis cases in
patients with Diabetes Mellitus and testing the Candida sp. using Chrom Agar
medium. Data analysis was performed by descriptive statistic to obtain an
candidiasis cases review in patients with Diabetes Mellitus. Result : The result
showed an candidiasis cases review in patients with Diabetes Mellitus of 77.33%
with Candida albicans species (57%) being the cause of the most cases followed
by Candida tropicalis (16%) and Candida glabrata (15%). Conclusion : The
discovery of the Candida sp. in various clinical samples as a cause of candidiasis
infection in Diabetes can be seen from the colonies color that growing on Chrom
Agar medium after incubating for 48 hours at 37?C.
