Abstract :
In Indonesia, an infectious disease is a disease that often occurs both that
infects external limbs, internal organs, and the oral cavity. Health problems that
occur in Indonesia are increasing, especially in oral health, namely dental caries.
Dental caries is an infectious disease that can be transmitted especially on hard
tooth tissue resulting in local hard tissue damage. This study aims to determine the
presence of Streptococcus mutans and Lactobacillus acidophilus found in dental
caries cases and to determine the number of bacteria that is more dominant
causing dental caries between Streptococcus mutans and Lactobacillus
acidophilus.
This type of research is a literature study, this study uses secondary data
collection taken from scientific journals in previous studies. The data obtained
were then analyzed using descriptive analysis.
The results of the review of 55 samples, which is the total number of
samples from the three research data, found that the average number of
Streptococcus mutans colonies was 546,123 CFU / mL and Lactobacillus
acidophilus was 117.2 CFU / mL in cases of dental caries
