Abstract :
Hypercholesterolemia is the cause of non-communicable diseases with the
highest percentage of 58.5% in 2015 and 52.3% in 2016 in Indonesia. Dyslipidemia
plays an important role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis in the walls of blood
vessels which is the cause of coronary heart disease (CHD) and stroke. The purpose
of this study was to analyze data on the relationship between body mass index and
cholesterol levels in adolescence.
This research uses literature study research. This research uses secondary data by
collecting data from several journals. The analysis used is descriptive analysis by
reviewing the description of the data on the relationship between the two variables
and other factors.
The study obtained two data which states that there is a relationship between
body mass index and cholesterol levels in adolescents, with a P value <0.05. And also
obtained one data that shows a P value> 0.05, which means there is no significant
relationship between the two variables.
After analyzing it, it was concluded that there was a relationship between body
mass index and cholesterol levels due to other factors, one of which was an unhealthy
diet.
