Abstract :
Joint pain is a disease that is often experienced as a person ages, where the body
experiences a decrease in the musculoskeletal system which is characterized by pain
in the joints. One of the joint pain can be caused by hyperuricemia. Hyperuricemia
can be treated by giving Allopurinol. The use of Allopurinol continuously can
cause side effects, so it is necessary to look for natural free antiradical types to
reduce free radicals that can damage the human body, one of which is the White
Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus). White Oyster Mushroom Polysaccharide
(Pleurotus ostreatus) functions as an antioxidant, where this antioxidant can be
used as a decrease in uric acid levels by inhibiting the xanthine oxidase enzyme
mechanism. This study aims to determine the differences in uric acid levels before
and after administration of white oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) to PKK
caders in Danukusuman village.
The type of this research is Experimental Analytic with Pretest and Postest
Without Control approaches. When the study was conducted in November to May
2020. The sample in this study were 30 people with the sampling technique used
was purposive sampling.
Data were analyzed using SPSS 18 for Windows. The hypothesis test used is
the Paired T Test. The results of the research analysis showed significant results
with a significance value ((p) = 0.000 ? 0.05). So it can be concluded "There is a
significant difference between the levels of uric acid before and after giving of
White Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) to PKK Caders in Danukusuman
Village"
