Abstract :
Hemoglobin is one part of the blood that has an important role in the process of forming erythrocytes. Several factors that can affect hemoglobin levels include nutritional intake, gender, physical activity, chronic illness, and a person's age. In the elderly (elderly) food intake can affect a person's nutritional status. To measure a person's nutritional status can be done by using the Body Mass Index measurement. Malnutrition is one of the health problems that occur in Indonesia. Consumption of low animal protein will allow anemia because animal protein is rich in iron which can prevent hemoglobin levels from decreasing. This literature study research uses descriptive analysis method using three scientific sources in the last 10 years. This research method uses a literature study by describing research journals related to the relationship between body mass index and hemoglobin levels in the elderly. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between body mass index and hemoglobin levels in the elderly. The results of this study indicate that 2 out of 3 sources stated that there is a significant relationship between body mass index and hemoglobin levels in the elderly. The conclusion from this literature study is that there is a relationship between body mass index and hemoglobin levels in the elderly.
