Abstract :
Averrhoa bilimbi fruit (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) is one of the plants that have
been used as traditional medicine. Averrhoa bilimbi fruit (Averrhoa bilimbi L.)
has antibacterial effects namely alkaloids, flavonoids and tannins. This study aims
to determine the ability of the ethyl acetate fraction Averrhoa bilimbi fruit 96%
ethanol extract to inhibit Klebsiella pneumoniae growth and to determine the
concentration that produces the biggest inhibitory zone on Klebsiella pneumoniae
growth. The method used is disc diffusion (Kirby & Bauer) with a 50%, 75% and
100% concentration series. The inhibition zone results obtained were analyzed
descriptively experimental. Inhibitory zone results shown from each extract at a
concentration of 50%, 75% and 100% of the ethyl acetate fraction Averrhoa
bilimbi fruit 96% ethanol extract were 19.10 mm, 21.53 mm and 22.23 mm. The
ethyl acetate fraction Averrhoa bilimbi fruit 96% ethanol extract is able to inhibit
Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria and 100% concentration can produce the largest
inhibitory zone diameter against the growth of Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria by
producing inhibition zone diameter of 22.23 mm.
