Abstract :
The use of excessive doses of paracetamol (>2g/days) causes demage to
the liver. Paracetamol is generally considered safe by the public but at high doses
can cause death. This research was conducted to determine the effect of broccoli
juice (Brassica oleracea L. var. italica) in reducing levels of liver MDA in wistarstrain white rats induced by paracetamol. This research was conducted in 6 groups
consisting of 5 mouse. Group I as normal control (Aquadest), group II as negative
control (CMC-NA 0,5%), group III as a positive control (Silimarin), groups IV to
VI were given broccoli juice in a dose of 12.6; 25.2; and 37.8 g / kg for 7 days.
On the seventh day after give of broccoli juice, paracetamol was induced at a dose
of 2.5 g / kg. After given paracetamol, 48 hours later a liver sample is taken to be
carried out by MDA levels. The results showed broccoli juice 12.6; 25.2; and 37.8
g / kg obtained average MDA levels in a row, namely 0.35705; 0.50914; and
0.2329 ?M. The provision of broccoli juice has been shown to have
hepatoprotector activity in reducing levels of MDA significant way compared to
positive group. The dose of broccoli juice 12,6 g/kgBB; 25,2 g/kgBB; dan 37,8
g/kgBB potentially as a hepatoprotector.
