Abstract :
Hepatitis still becomes a health issue in Indonesia. Hepatitis is
an infectious disease that affects morbidity, mortality, public health status,
life expectancy and other socio-economic impacts. Knowledge is the result
of knowing, and this happens after people perceive a certain object. College
students become a susceptible group to the transmission of infectious
diseases like hepatitis.This study aimed to describe the knowledge of the
students in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science Sebelas Maret
University about hepatitis. The study conducted as descriptive research. The
population of this study was 2671. A total of 377 samples were selected
based on the stratified random sampling technique.The results of this study
indicate that the majority of respondents, 237 (62,86%) respondents, have a
level of knowledge that is categorized as good toward the types and causes
of hepatitis. In addition, the majority of respondents, 200 (53.10%)
respondents, have a level of knowledge that is categorized as sufficient
toward the transmission of hepatitis. Also, the majority of respondents, 202
(53.59%) of respondents, have a level of knowledge that is categorized as
sufficient toward the prevention of hepatitis.
