Abstract :
Self-medication is human behavior that is usually done by the
community to get solutions related to health problems. Society needs appropriate
knowledge to get the right behavior in self-authentication. The number of people
who carry out this swamedication needs to be aware because the lack of adequate
knowledge of the use of drugs will potentially cause dangerous side effects. This
study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and cough selfmedication behavior in the Manggal hamlet community, Jatisawit, Jatiyoso,
Karanganyar. This research is a survey research with descriptive analytic method
with cross sectional design. Sampling with Non Probability Sampling technique
by Purposive sampling. The sample used was 90 respondents. This research was
conducted in March-April 2020. Data analysis used was a simple linear
regression analysis model with SPSS version 20. The results of this study showed
that 23.33% of respondents had high cough self-knowledge knowledge, and
46.67% of respondents have low knowledge. Cough self-medication behavior
shows that 84.44% of respondents have good behavior, and 15.56% of
respondents have sufficient behavior. There is a significant relationship between
the level of knowledge and cough self-medication behavior with a correlation
value of 0.278.
