Abstract :
Free radicals have long been known to cause damage to cell membranes,
endoplasmic reticulum and can interfere with deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) cells
(Kunwar, 2011). Antioxidants play an active role in preventing excess free
radicals and prevent chain reactions. Antioxidants consist of two kinds namely,
natural antioxidants and synthetic antioxidants (Amarowiez et al., 2000).
Antioxidants are compounds that are able to neutralize these free radicals.
Antioxidants have various benefits, such as avoiding degenerative diseases,
cancer and also as anti-aging. Therefore, researchers feel the need to explore
plants that have antioxidant power. One of the plants that want to be explored by
researchers, namely the skin of lime (Citrus aurantifolia), The essential oil content
in the skin of lime fruit is 4%. The purpose of this study was to determine total
phenolic levels using the Folin-Ciocalteu method of cold extraction of lime peel
methanol extract. Total phenolate levels are expressed by GAE values, namely the
concentration value of lime peel methanol extract method which produces 4.8324
and for the percolation method 4.9923 which belongs to the group of weak
antioxidant activity.
