Abstract :
Breadfruit leaves are one type of medicinal plant that contains flavonoids which are
believed to be used for the treatment of the liver. Tablets have the advantage of
being easy to consume and precisely measuring, so this study is to determine the
effect of a combination of gelatin and agar flour which can produce breadfruit leaf
tablets (Artocarpus altilis) with good physical quality and to determine the effect
of gelatin and agar flour as a binder in the physical stability test of breadfruit leaf
extract tablets (Artocarpus altilis). The reason for using the gelatin binder is that
gelatin is used to give compactness to tablets, while agar flour is in order to increase
the binding capacity of the tablets. Breadfruit leaf extract tablet made by wet
granulation method because the active ingredient of breadfruit leaf (Artocarpus
altilis) is not resistant to heating above 50oC. Formula of breadfruit leaf extract
tablet (Artocarpus altilis) with gelatin binding agent that is 4%, 6%, 8%, 10% and
agar flour that is 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2.0%, it is expected to be able to produce tablets
that meet the requirements of tablet weight uniformity test, tablet hardness test,
tablet fragility test, and tablet disintegration time test for 28 days. The concentration
of gelatin and agar flour binder to give effect to the physical properties of granules
and physical properties of tablets, the concentration of gelatin and agar flour binder
that is good is formula IV with a concentration of 4% gelatin and 2% agar flour,
with an average weight uniformity test result of 0.515 ± 0.005 g, an average tablet
hardness test result of 1.15 ± 0.029 kg, the average tablet fragility test results were
2.934 ± 0.631%, the average results of the tablet disintegration test were 5.07 ± 0.11
minutes.
