Abstract :
Guava leaf plant is a type of medicinal plant used by the community.
Flavonoids are one of the nutritious compounds contained in guava leaves
(Psidium guajava L). Tablets have the advantage of being easy to take and the
exact dose. The purpose of this study was to obtain an optimum formula of a
mixture of gelatin and PVP as a binding agent that can produce guava leaf extract
tablets with good physical quality and stability. The extraction method used is
maceration with 70% ethanol solvent obtained 16.36% yield. The method of
making tablets used is wet granulation by drying granules at a temperature of 50 °
C. Determination of the optimal formula with the Simplex Lattice Design method
with Software Design Expert Version 10. Verification of the optimal formula with
SPSS version 21, the method used One Sample T-test with parameters of weight
uniformity test, size uniformity test, hardness test, friability test and disintegration
time test . The stability test is carried out on days 0, 7, 14 and 21 which are
presented in the form of line charts. Optimal formula obtained by comparison of
the concentration of gelatin and PVP 4.74%: 5.26% with a weight of 17.739 mg
and 19.661 mg at 374 mg of total weight of the tablet. Verification results were
not significantly different, indicated by p value> 0.05 and had good stability.
