Abstract :
Pear skin contains flavonoids which can be potential as antioxidants.
COVID-19 is a virus that attacks the human body?s immune system. One of the
keys to maintaining and increasing immunity is eating nutritious foods that
contain antioxidants. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential
antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of pear rind (Pyrus bretschneideri).
Extraction was carried out by maceration with 70% solvent to obtain pear skin
extract. The antioxidant activity test method was carried out by the ABTS (2,2
Azinobis (3-Ethylbenzothiazine) -6-Sulfonic Acid) method by measuring the
mixed absorption of the sample extract and ABTS by UV-Visible
spectrophotometry at a wavelength of 734 nm at the 4th minute. The results of
the measurement of the ethanol extract of pear rind (Pyrus bretschneideri)
produced an IC50 value of 9.53 ppm so that it was included in the very strong
category of antioxidant activity.
