Abstract :
A major vitamin E component, fuctions as an antioxidant that neutralizes
free radicals in the body. This research was aimed to determine the levels of vitamin
E produced from the ethanol extract of avocado seeds. Avocado seeds were
extracted by maceration using 96% ethanol solvent and evaporated using a rotary
evaporator. The viscous extract obtained was then subjected to a qualitative
screening including the vitamin E test. The analysis was continued quantitatively
using visible spectrophometry, with the maximum wavelength obtained was 515,5
nm and an absobance value of 0.354. The result of 3 replication qualitative test
showed that the ethanol extract of avocado seeds was positive for vitamin E
compounds. The quantitative test results showed that the ethanol extract of avocado
seeds had an average level of 19,75 g/ gram and the %CV value obtained was
0,015%.
