Abstract :
Meniran (Phyllanthus niruri L.) contains flavonoids which function as
immunostimulants. Nanotechnology can improve drug quality by increasing drug
bioavailability, increasing physical stability, and increasing absorption by reducing
particle size and extending the surface. The purpose of this study was to determine
the physical properties and stability of meniran extract nanoemulsion preparation
and to determine the ratio of Tween 80 and PEG 400 with good physical properties
and stability. The nanoemulsion is made from the oil phases of virgin coconut oil,
Tween 80 surfactant and polyethylenglycol cosurfactant. The nanoemulsion
formulations were tested for organoleptic, pH, viscosity,% transmittance, freeze
thawing, and droplet size in the formula with the highest %transmittance. The
results of physical quality and stability test of meniran extract nanoemulsion
preparations showed a difference in pH values, namely the higher the PEG 400
concentration in the nanoemulsion formula, the lower the pH of the preparation.
Meniran extract nanoemulsion is stable on storage. In the droplet size test, the
results obtained meet the droplet size criteria range, namely the range of 20-500
nm. Comparison of the concentrations of tween 80 and PEG 400 in the
nanoemulsion preparation of meniran extracts which has good physical properties
and stability is formula 4 with a ratio of 20.75 and 10.25.
