Abstract :
Worms can be transmitted means of food, drink, and skin infiltration with
soil as the transmission medium. Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) is an
intestinal nematode which in its life cycle requires soil for the maturation process
of its eggs. Included in this group are Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura,
and Hookworm. Lack of attention to clean living habitscan make someone easily
infected with worms. The work was closely related to Soil Transmitted Helminths
(STH) infection is land-related work. One of the occupations that are at risk of
becoming infected with worms is tile crafts.
This study used a descriptive research design. Aim to find out the presence
of Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) eggs. Sampling was done by using Quota
sampling technique of 15 samples of tile craftsmen's faeces in Ngambak Kalang
Hamlet, Wirun Village, Mojolaban Subdistrict, Sukoharjo Regency. This research
was conducted at Parasitology Laboratory of Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan
Nasional using flotation techniques.
The results showed that 6.67% (1 of 15 samples) of tile craftsmen's faeces
were infected with Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) eggs with Ascaris
lumbricoides species.
