Abstract :
Jamu gendong beras kencur is one of the most popular variants of herbal medicine
for consumption by the public. During the herbal processing process, if it is not
done properly, sterile and hygienically, mold and yeast contamination may occur in
the herbal medicine. This study aims to identify the types of mold and yeast in jamu
gendong beras kencur in Nguter Village, Sukoharjo Regency. Sampling was done
by the accidental sampling technique as many as 9 samples. This research was
conducted using a spread plate technique. Samples that have been planted on PDA
media are incubated for 5 days and then the results of colony growth are observed
both macroscopically and microscopically. The results obtained from the study
were that all samples examined contained various fungi and yeasts in them. The
types of fungi contained in the sample of jamu gendong beras kencur is Aspergillus
sp., Fusarium sp., Penicillium sp., Cladosporium sp., Chaetomium sp., dan
Scopulariopsis sp.
