Abstract :
Hands are a part of the body that are very often used to carry out daily
activities, especially the palms of the hands so that it is very easy to become an
intermediary for germs and bacteria that can lead to contamination When holding
an object, shaking hands with other people, holding doors, holding motorcycle or
bicycle handlebars and holding other public facilities so that viral or bacterial
transmission factors often occur. The purpose of this study was to identify the
presence of Klebsiella pneumoniae on palm swabs of food vendors at Kanisius
Semanggi II Elementary School Surakarta.
The type of research used in this scientific paper is descriptive research.
This research was conducted at the Bacteriology Laboratory of the National
School of Health Sciences and the time of this research was carried out on March
29 ? April 7, 2021. The sample used in this study was the palm swab of food
vendors at SD Kanisius Semanggi II Surakarta. The sampling technique used is
Total Sampling.
The results obtained from samples of 11 palm swabs of food vendors at
Kanisius Semanggi II Elementary School Surakarta found 19% Klebsiella
pneumoniae and other samples found Klebsiella sp 8%, Citrobacter sp 8%,
Proteus sp 8%, Escherichia coli 11%, Serratia sp 38%, Salmonella typhi 4%,
Enterobacter sp 4%.
The conclusion of this study was that 19% of Klebsiella pneumoniae
was found in the palm swabs of food vendors at Kanisius Semanggi II Elementary
School Surakarta.
