Abstract :
Bacillus cereus and Staphylooccus aureus are one of the bacteria that cause infectious
diseases that often cause problems for human health. Alternative treatment of infectious
diseases is with natural ingredients. One of the natural ingredients used is the Telang Flower
plant (Clitoria ternatea) because it contains antibacterial active compounds such as
flavonoids, saponins, tannins, alkaloids and phenols. The purpose of this study was to
determine the ability of the ethanol extract of Bunga Telang (Clitoria ternatea) to inhibit the
growth of Bacillus cereus and Staphylooccus aureus. to determine the picture (radical zone)
of the ethanolic extract of the Telang Flower (Clitoria ternatea) plant in inhibiting the growth
of Bacillus cereus and Staphylooccus aureus.
This study uses a type of literature study research. The data needed in this study were
obtained from the results of research on the effectiveness of the ethanol extract of the Telang
Flower (Clitoria ternatea) plant in inhibiting the growth of Bacillus cereus and Staphylooccus
aureus. The sample used was the ethanol extract of the flower and petals of the Telang flower
(Clitoria ternatea). The data obtained were then analyzed using descriptive analysis.
The results showed that the ethanolic extract of Telang flower (Clitoria ternatea) has
antibacterial compounds so that it can inhibit the growth of Bacillus cereus and
Staphylooccus aureus bacteria.
Conclusion: The ethanol extract of Telang flower (Clitoria ternatea) has antibacterial
compounds, namely alkaloids, phenols, saponins, tannins and flavonoids. Telang flower
(Clitoria ternatea) ethanol extract was able to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus
bacteria with an inhibition zone range of (7-18 mm). 7-13mm).
