Abstract :
Benzodiazepines are included in class 4 psychotropic drugs that provide
sedative or calming effects. It is used as an antidepressant, anesthetic, and
anticovulsant. The aims of this study is to determine whether there is
benzodiazepine psychotropics or not in the urine of final year health students in
Surakarta.
This is a descriptive study which using an urine as the sample. The
samples were taken from health students in Surakarta with quota sampling
technique. The number of samples was 10 and using the screening immunoassay
strip test method.
The results of the questionnaires that were distributed found that 38% of
students experienced stress, 29% of students experienced insomnia or difficulty
sleeping, 21% experienced unexplained anxiety, and 12% of students experienced
excessive anxiety. A total of 10 respondents did not take some drugs. The
screening test for health students in Surakarta was found to be negative for
benzodiazepines.
This study found that all samples from the Health Students in Surakarta
were tested negative or did not contain benzodiazepine psychotropics
