Abstract :
Body mass index (BMI) is a parameter used to determine a person's weight
status whether classified as normal or not and can also be used to determine a
person's nutritional status. Hypercholesterolemia is a condition where cholesterol
levels in the blood are high. Body mass index shows the amount of fat stored in
the body and blood. And the higher the BMI value, the higher the cholesterol
level. In the elderly will also experience a decrease in physical activity. So this
study aims to determine the relationship between body mass index and cholesterol
levels in Posbindu Cambodia IV Gedangan Grogol Sukoharjo.
This research uses observational analytic research with sampling technique,
purposive sampling. The number of samples used were 33 members of Posbindu
Cambodia IV Gedangan Grogol Sukoharjo. The cholesterol level examination
data was tested by the Pearson statistical test.
The results of this study showed that the results of the normality test of
normally distributed data (p) > 0.05. Meanwhile, the results of the Pearson test
obtained a p value of 0.129.
It can be concluded that there is no significant relationship between body
mass index and cholesterol levels in Posbindu Cambodia IV Gedangan Grogol
Sukoharjo with p = 0.129 > (0.05).
