Abstract :
A porter is a person who sold goods services transport with the body as a
support for the load which then transports the goods from one place to another.
Pelvic porters are workers with strenuous physical activity where every day they
can lift objects up to tens of kilos. Physical activity effected the number of
leukocytes, the greater undertaken of physical activity, the higher the number of
leukocytes. This study aims to knew the number of leukocytes in coolies in the
Gede market, Surakarta.
This study is a descriptive using a purposive sampling technique with 36
blood samples from the market coolies at Gede market Surakarta with signed the
informed consent. The number of leukocytes in the blood sample was checked with
a Hematology Analyzer.
The results of the research on 36 samples of coolant blood at the Gede market,
Surakarta which were examined, obtained 31 samples (86.11%) the number of
leukocytes was within normal limits and 5 samples (13.89%) experienced an
increase.
The conclusion of this study is the average picture of the number of
leukocytes in the porters at the Gede market in Surakarta is normal. The average
number of leukocytes obtained is normal, namely 7.74 103 Cells / µl of blood.
