Abstract :
Welding workshop is an industrial sector which is engaged in welding
various kinds of metals. The potential for welding workshop workers is exposed
to metal through the smoke inhaled when doing welding. Analysis using hair can
measure the level of poisoning by heavy metals. This study aims to determine the
levels of lead in the hair of welding workshop workers.
This type of research is descriptive. The study was conducted at the
Surabaya Industrial Standardization and Research Institute in April - June 2021.
The research sample used the hair of welding workshop workers as many as 8
samples were taken by purposive sampling. Measurement of lead content samples
using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer.
The results of the study on 8 samples showed the results of lead levels in
the hair of welding workshop workers code A1 5.54 µg /g, code A2 6.29 µg /g,
code A3 7.38 µg /g, code A4 8.82 µg /g, code A5 3.28 µg /g, A6 4.83 µg /g, code
A7 6.90 µg /g, code A8 4.68 µg /g.
The level of lead in the hair of welding workshop workers is below the
threshold of the Ministry of Health, which is < 12 µg /g
