Abstract :
There are hand sanitizer products in liquid form and some in the form of
gel which have an average of 60% alcohol as an active ingredient. While
antiseptic liquid soap contains the active ingredients triclosan and salicylic acid.
Hand washing is one of the hygiene measures by cleaning hands and fingers
which is carried out with the aim of cleaning hands and breaking the chain of
germs. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness before and
after using various types of antiseptics such as gel, spray hand sanitizer and
antiseptic soap.
This type of research is a descriptive research conducted using the Total
Plate Number (ALT) method. The samples used used 3 types of antiseptics, 1
brand each with the Quota Sampling technique with 6 probands which were taken
by hand swabs before and after using antiseptics.
The results of the bacterial count test were obtained by counting visually
on the Nutrient Agar media and from before and after using various types of
antiseptics, the number of germs decreased.
The study of the germ count test was concludedfrom the various types of
antiseptics examined, which were more effective in reducing the number of germs
on hands, namely antiseptic soap.
