Abstract :
Background: Urinary incontinence is the uncontrollable expulsion of urine at an
uncontrollable time and regardless of the frequency or amount which can cause
physical, emotional, social, and hygienic problems for the sufferer. Urinary
incontinence is a health problem that is very common in all women, children, adults
and men at the age of 15-74 years. Symptoms of urinary incontinence can be caused
by after childbirth, decreased production of the hormone estrogen, athletes lift weights
which causes the pelvic floor muscles to weaken. There are several exercises to reduce
urinary incontinence symptoms, one of which is pelvic floor exercise, kegel exercise,
bridging exercise, core stability and bladder training.
Research Objectives: To determine the effectiveness of pelvic floor exercise in
women with urinary incontinence.
Research Methods: The study was conducted in collecting research data from
national and international journals in 2010-2021 at PubMed, Science direct with the
keywords used ''women'', ''urinary incontinence'',''effectiveness of pelvic floor
exercise'' , ''kegel exercise'', ''bladder training'', ''core stability'', '' Bridging exercise''.
Research Results: The effect of giving pelvic floor exercise, kegel exercise, bladder
training, core stability, bridging exercise to reduce urinary incontinence symptoms in
women.
Conclusion: Pelvic floor exercises was effective in reducing urinary incontinence
symptoms in women.
